As a result of House Bill 123 signed in August 2011, the GACEC instituted an annual Disability History and Awareness Month Poster Contest.
Youth across the state submitted creative works of art depicting specific topics that people with disabilities face. The posters are reviewed and judged by how well the topic was covered. Selection decisions are tough. Artists of selected posters are invited to a luncheon awards ceremony held in Dover.
Due to Covid-19, the poster contests for 2020 and 2021 were canceled. The GACEC has since resumed that annual poster contest with schools from across the State of Delaware.
