As a result of House Bill 123, signed in August 2011, the GACEC instituted an annual Disability History and Awareness Month Poster Contest.
Youth across the state submit creative works of art depicting specific topics that people with disabilities face. The posters are reviewed and judged by how well the topic is represented. Selection decisions are tough, and artists whose posters are selected are invited to an awards ceremony held in Dover. The theme for the 2026 Poster Contest will be “Kindness Makes Us Strong.”
Poster Entry Options
• Grades 3–12: Students should submit an original poster based on the 2026 contest theme.
• New for K–2 Students: To ensure our youngest learners can join in the fun, we have created a special coloring sheet for kindergarten through 2nd grade students. K–2 participants may submit a completed coloring sheet instead of creating an original poster if they choose.
