Students with intellectual disabilities and their parents speak out about the college experience in the University of Delaware’s, Center for Disabilities Studies CLSC program. They candidly discuss college fun, parental fears and life skills needed to attend college.
The video is meant to inspire parents/caregivers, teachers and students with disabilities who dream of college. It is encouraging and uplifting to watch the decisions that students and parents had to make about college.
For additional information on going to college Delaware Disability Hub www.deldhub.com has a section under Education called Higher Education. Deldhub is a transition website for youth with disabilities, their parents/caregivers and teachers of special education.
Almost all the students in the video attended the University of Delaware’s Center for Disabilities Studies CLSC program.
The Governor’s Advisory Council for Exceptional Citizens (GACEC) serves as the review board for policies, procedures and practices related to the delivery of services for all residents in Delaware with exceptionalities or disabilities from birth to death. GACEC also serves as an advisory panel for agencies providing educational services and programs to children through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
